Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2025
What We Collect
We collect the following information:
- Account Information: Your email address for authentication and communication
- Document Data: Tax documents you voluntarily submit, which are processed to remove personally identifiable information (PII)
- Payment Information: Payment details you provide to receive compensation
- Usage Data: Information about how you interact with our service, including submission timestamps and referral information
How We Process Your Documents
When you submit a tax document:
- You review and approve redactions that remove personal information (names, Social Security numbers, addresses, etc.)
- The redacted (de-identified) version is stored for research purposes
- By default, your original document is not retained after processing
Original Document Retention (Optional)
For an additional payment, you may choose to allow us to retain your original (non-redacted) document alongside the de-identified version. This helps improve our redaction accuracy and AI model training.
If you choose this option:
- Your original document will be stored securely with encryption
- You may request deletion of your original document at any time
- Upon deletion request, your original will be permanently deleted within 30 days
- The de-identified (redacted) version will be retained for research purposes regardless of deletion requests, as it no longer contains personally identifiable information
- Previously paid bonuses are non-refundable
De-identified Data
After redaction, your document is considered "de-identified" under applicable privacy laws (including the California Consumer Privacy Act). De-identified data:
- Cannot reasonably identify, relate to, or be linked to you
- Is not considered "personal information" under privacy laws
- May be used for AI compliance research, model training, and shared with research partners
- Is not subject to deletion requests since it is no longer your personal information
Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting support@ankadata.org.
Upon account deletion:
- Your account information (email, name) will be deleted within 30 days
- Original documents (if retained) will be permanently deleted
- De-identified research data (redacted documents) will be preserved
- Payment records will be retained for accounting and tax purposes as required by law
- Referral records will be anonymized (your identity removed) but the referral relationship preserved for program integrity
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption at rest and in transit, access controls, and regular security audits. Your documents are stored using Google Cloud Platform with customer-managed encryption keys.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information (subject to exceptions above)
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format
To exercise these rights, contact support@ankadata.org.
